GSU honors Bryan County students

STATESBORO — Five students from Bryan County received honors during the recent Georgia Southern University’s Annual Honors Day Convocation at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center.
The event is held each spring to highlight distinguished students from all disciplines and areas of college life. Individual awards were presented to 188 students.
Bryan County students honored were:
• Jennifer Cummings from Pembroke, who received the Outstanding Scholar Graduating Senior Award.
• Mcdonald Fawcett of Richmond Hill, who received the Outstanding Scholar Graduating Senior Award.
• Lia Karrels of Richmond Hill, who received the Bothwell A. “Snag” Johnson ROTC Honors Scholarship.
• Nicole Nielson of Richmond Hill, who received the Women’s and Gender Studies Research and Project Award.
• Tanya Pia of Richmond Hill, who received the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society Leader of the Year Award.
