Eighth-grader Sophie Giorgianni claimed the title of Richmond Hill Middle School’s 2014 spelling-bee champion Jan. 31.
RHMS held its annual school spelling bee Jan. 31. Fifty-five students were chosen from classroom spelling bees to compete in a schoolwide spell-off.
After five rounds, eighth-grader Sophie Giorgianni spelled correctly the word, “arraignment,” for the win.
She will now compete in the Bryan County Spelling Bee on Tuesday at Carver Elementary.
Giorgianni’s alternate is sixth-grader Dean Harrison, who will take Giorgianni’s place if she is unable to compete.
