Wildcats Track & Field: 23 athletes qualify for state

As the 2024-2025 school year draws to a close, there are a few sports rounding out their seasons, such as the track and field teams for Richmond Hill High School.


The track and field state qualifiers have been announced for teams around Georgia, and Richmond Hill High Schools has several student athletes that have qualified. 


Those twenty three athletes include ten female athletes in Howard Bison signee Mmekom Inyang, Newberry College signee Jada Brown, Emari Brown, Alexa Hamlin, Selah Moore, Adelin Althen, Chloe Miller, Gabriella Francis, Lauren Seybold and Norah Sybert. 


Inyang will compete in the shot put, 100/110m hurdles, 4x100 relay, and 300m hurdles. J. Brown will compete in the shot put and discus events. E. Brown will compete in the high jump and the 4x100 relay. Hamlin will compete in the 4x100 relay. Moore will compete in the 4x100 relay, as well as the 100/110m hurdles. Althen will compete in the 4x800m relay. Miller will compete in the 4x800m relay, as well as the 800m run. Francis will compete in the 3200m run. Seybold and Sybert will both compete in the 4x800m relay as well. 


There are also thirteen male athletes in Eddie Howell, Billy Cunningham, Kobe Mitchell, Walter Pugh, Tim Alston, Kendrick Joshua, Korben Johnson, Jordan Davis, Santonio Rio, Carter Dieterich, Ben Hall, Lealond Hodges and Matthew Rodriguez. 


Howell will compete in the 4x800m relay, the 1600m run, and the 800m run. Cunningham will compete in the long jump. Both Mitchell and Pugh will compete in the 4x100m relay, as well as the 4x200m relay. Alston will compete in the 300m hurdles. Joshua will compete in the 100/110m hurdles, as well as the 300m hurdles, as well as the 4x100 relay. Johnson will compete in both the 100m and 200m dash, as well as the 4x100 relay. Rio will compete in the 4x800m relay, the 400m dash and the 4x400m relay. Dietrich will compete in the 3200m run. Hall will also compete in the 3200m run, in addition to the 4x800m relay. Hodges will compete in the 4x800m relay and Rodriguez will compete in the 4x400m relay. 


The Georgia High School Association Track and Field State Championships will be presented by the Atlanta Track Club in 2025. The events will be held May 9-10. All final races will be live video streamed to any device on the National Federation of State High School Associations Network. For the Richmond Hill athletes, they will be competing in Carrollton, at Carrollton High School. Those that want to attend the event are encouraged to purchase their tickets on GoFan ahead of time.
