Bryan County High School senior Jay Black signed a full scholarship April 18 to play basketball at Central Georgia Technical College, a two year school.

Black, who pulled down more than 1,000 rebounds in her career and was a two-time second-team All Region 2-AA selection this year, was part of a group of seniors who won 89 games in four years and went 25-2 last season.

“She’s just an all around good kid. A good kid in the classroom, she’s a well respected kid,” said BCHS girls’ coach Mario Mincey. “She’s just a winner. I’m going to miss her a lot.”

Black said she plans to study nursing.

FITZGERALD WATCH

Depending on which scouting service you believe, former Richmond Hill High School standout Nick Fitzgerald is either one of the top 15 quarterback prospects on the board for this year’s NFL draft, or he’s “more project than prospect,” according to NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein. Fitzgerald, who is 6-foot-5 and 226 pounds and starred at Mississippi State, gets a 4.95 grade by NFL.com, which expects him to be in an NFL training camp. The NFL draft is April 25-27. It’ll be on TV.
