In the above photo, Richmond Hill High School senior Alaina Lucas, shown wearing the Middle Georgia State University t-shirt, is with teammates April 3 at the LINK media center, where she signed to play softball at MGSU. 

“I don’t even know how to thank everybody who helped me get here,” Lucas said at her signing.

 It’s clear she had a lot to do with it. Lucas was the Region 2-AAAAAA Pitcher of the Year in 2018, fanning 150 batters in 134 innings while compiling a 1.51 earned run average, according to RHHS softball interim head coach Jessica Cooper. 

“This girl has worked hard on and off the field and the stats and accomplishment of signing to play softball at the next level speaks for itself," Cooper said.
