Richmond Hill golf team to sectionals
Coach Jimmy Hires and the Richmond Hill High School boys’ golf team is heading to the state Class AAAAA sectionals in Newnan on Tuesday after obtaining a qualifying score in the region play-offs at Jekyll Island.
This is reportedly the first time RHHS has qualified for state sectionals. The scores at Jekyll Island by player were: Austin Gilliam 81, Brennan Daniels 86, Patrick Gale 86, Garrett Garner 86, Turner Stephenson 86..

Baseball, soccer squads in playoff
Richmond Hill High School’s baseball and boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are in the postseason.
The diamond Wildcats (17-8, 11-2) will play host to Northside Columbus in a best-of-three series beginning at 3:30 p.m. Friday in a doubleheader. If the teams split Friday, a deciding game will be played at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The boys’ and girls’ soccer teams both host first-round games as well. The Wildcats take on Bainbridge at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Lady Wildcats play host to Lee County today at 5 p.m. Both games are at Henderson Park. See brackets on page 12.

Track, tennis in postseason
Richmond Hill’s Rachel Hammesfahr and Savannah Ashe qualified for the state girls’ Class AAAAA meet this weekend in Albany. Hammesfahr qualified in the 1,600 and 3,200. Ashe advanced in the 300-meter hurdles.
Bryan County High School’s Llianna Shuman was the only Lady Redskin to get past the sectionals -- she is going to the Class AA state meet in the high jump.
The boys’ state meet is May 8-10 in Jefferson.
Richmond Hill’s boys’ tennis team fell 5-0 to Bainbridge last week in the first round of the state Class AAAAA tournament in Bainbridge. The girls’ team advanced to the second round after downing Harris County 5-1. They were set to play Lakeside-Evans on Tuesday. (DBCK)
