Richmond Hill advanced to the second round of the Region 2AAAA Ladies Soccer tournament by virtue of a 9-1 win over visiting Effingham County on Tuesday. The Wildcats play Lakeside-Evans game at 6 p.m. Thursday at Wildcat Field.
Most of the damage came from Richmond Hill's one-two-punch of Lindsey Vasher and Sarah Goolsby. Vasher finished with four goals and one assist, while Goolsby added three goals and one assist.
Kaitlin Taylor scored the games first goal for the Wildcats and added two assists, and Bonnie Hallman rounded out the scoring for Richmond Hill with a goal. Wildcat goal keeper Lauren Chesney had four saves and Effingham County's Afton Landrum scored the lone goal for the Lady Rebels.
Richmond Hill's boys soccer team hosted Evans in their first round game Tuesday and beat the Knights 4-3.
Justin Carrillo had two of the first half goals and one assist while fellow team captain Drew Gregerson also had a goal. Juwan Gual rounded out the first half scoring for the Cats with a goal.
The Wildcats travel to Lakeside-Evans for a 5:30 p.m. match Thursday.
Both games were set for Friday but reportedly were moved forward a day due to Lakeside-Evans' prom.
