Lady Redskins fall to Vidalia in Columbus

The Bryan County Lady Redskins suffered their first loss in the Class AA state-championship tournament in Columbus.

They fell 5-2 to their nemesis this season, Vidalia. The Lady Indians beat Bryan County twice in regular-season Region 2-AA play, by scores of 2-0 in Vidalia and 3-2 in Pembroke.

Bryan County (29-11) will face Gordon Lee (34-2) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Lady Redskins beat the Gordon Lee 1-0 Thursday, snapping the Lady Trojans’ 27-game winning streak.

Now, Bryan County will have to pull off another upset of Gordon Lee to stay alive. The winner of the Saturday morning game will face Vidalia in the championship round, which is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

The Lady Indians are undefeated in Columbus, beating Heard County 3-2 and Social Circle 5-1 Thursday before their win Friday over Bryan County.
