Boy Scouts of America Sporting Clays Shoot set for Oct. 4

The 17th annual Boy Scouts of America Sporting Clays Shoot is Saturday, Oct. 4 at Roberts Shooting Preserve at 6122 Highway 17 North in Egypt.

RHATA seeking players

The Richmond Hill Area Tennis Association (RHATA) is looking for players to join the league for the upcoming fall season. The RHATA is approved by both the USTA section and national office as a registered community tennis association. It offers both competitive play and a fun, relaxed atmosphere for all levels of player. The season starts Sept. 7 and runs on Sunday evenings through November. RHHS softball fundraiser

Richmond Hill High School softball players are selling breast cancer awareness t-shirts to raise money for a local breast cancer awareness organization.

T-shirts are $15 and three-quarter sleeve shirts are $22. All proceeds will go towards breast cancer awareness, coach Angie Hummeldorf said.

"This is a fundraiser we take part in every year to teach these young ladies to be part of something bigger than themselves," she said. "Come out and support breast cancer awareness and your very own Lady Wildcats as they take on South Effingham."

Those who wear this year’s Wildcat breast cancer awareness shirt to the game on Sept. 11 will get free admission. For more information call Coach Hummeldorf at 459-5151.

Youth waterfowl season

Are you a youth hunter, 15 years of age or younger, looking for a waterfowl hunting opportunity? Wait no more! The application deadline for the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge’s annual Youth Waterfowl Hunt has been extended to Sept. 15. Savannah NWR will host the annual youth waterfowl hunt on three separate hunt days; Nov. 29, Dec. 6, and Dec. 13. The hunt will be limited to a maximum of 12 youth hunters (two per blind) per day who will be selected by random drawing. A $5.00 application fee for each hunter is required at the time the application is submitted.

CG’s golf scramble

All are invited to play in Maj. Gen. John (Mike) Murray’s four-person scramble Sept. 12 at Hunter Golf Course. The four-person scramble begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. The $35 per person cost includes tournament and golf car fees, driving range and prizes. Players are asked to register by Sept. 10. For more information, call 912-315-9115.

Bend the bar

Registration is under way for the Stewart-Hunter "Bend-the-Bar" Powerlifting and Bench Press Challenge, to be held at 4th IBCT Fitness Center on Sept. 20. The competition is open to men and women, who will compete in 12 weight classes. Participants must be at least 16 years of age to enter. Competition will follow United States Power-lifting Federation rules. Winners will be determined by weight classes. T-shirts will be given to each paying participant and prizes will be awarded in all weight classes. Entry fee is $15 per person until Sept. 15 and $20 per person after Sept. 15.
