It’s that time of year again.
Preparations are under way for the 14th annual Good Ol’ Boys - John Stevens Santa Scramble golf tournament to benefit needy children through the Bryan County Children’s Fund.
Money raised in the tournament helps ensure no child in Bryan County goes without a Christmas gift. Thousand of Bryan County children have benefited as a result of the Santa Scramble, which this year is Nov. 8 at Sterling Links Golf Club in Richmond Hill.
Along with the Good Ol’ Boys, the Bryan County News is a lead sponsor for this tournament, which helps buy toys, food and clothing for eligible kids referred by schools, churches and local social service agencies.
The Santa Scramble is the largest fundraiser for the Children’s Fund, which in turn is the single largest such effort in Bryan County.
Sponsors are needed at a number of levels:
- Gold: A $1,500 donation gives the sponsor a sign on the golf course, acknowledgement in the Bryan County News and the right to erect both a tent and 10-foot banner. Gold sponsors also can man a booth with literature and a representative, and the Gold sponsor’s logo will be used in advertisements for the tournament. Gold sponsors also receive two four-man teams.
- Silver: A $1,000 donation gives the sponsor a sign on golf course and acknowledgement in the News, plus the right to erect a booth and display a 6-foot banner at the clubhouse. The sponsor also receives the right to man a booth with literature and a representative. The sponsor receives one four-man team.
- Bronze: A donation of $750 gives sponsor recognition with a sign on the golf course, recognition in the Bryan County News and one complimentary four-man team.

In addition to sponsors, teams are needed. Four-man Captain’s Choice teams can sign up at a cost of $300 per team. Individuals may sign up and play for $75 per person.
The Good Ol’ Boys and Bryan County News also seek door prize donations from local businesses and organizations. Monetary donations from individuals will be appreciated as well.
The deadline to sign up to compete is Nov. 4. To become a sponsor, sign up a team or make a donation, make checks payable to Bryan County Children’s Fund: Good Ol’ Boys, P.O. Box 49, Richmond Hill, GA, 31324.
