Hoops action heats up at Hendrix Park

On Jan. 19, Hendrix Park hosted the CAA Basketball Rama for 10-and-under boys and 12-and-under boys. Each team played two games with a 20 minute running clock. Everyone had a lot of fun.

Here are some of the results:

In the 10-and-under age group, Garden City 1 played Port Wentworth. Garden City won 16-2. Garden City 1 also played Hendrix Park 1 and won 14-5.

It looks like Garden City 1 will be a team to watch out for.

Next, Bloomingdale played Port Wentworth and Bloomingdale won 12-2. Garden City 2 played Hendrix Park 1. Hendrix Park 1 won 5-0.

Bloomingdale played Hendrix Park 2 and Hendrix Park 2 won 10-9. Garden City 2 played Hendrix Park 2 and Hendrix Park 2 won 8-3.

In the 12-and-under age group, Garden City played Hendrix Park in a close game with a 9-8 win for Hendrix Park.

Hendrix Park also beat Port Wentworth 15-12.

Garden City beat Bloomingdale 24-7, then in the final game of the day Port Wentworth held off Bloomingdale 12-11.

Overall, everyone had a great time and the teams are ready to start the regular season.

On Jan. 24, the 8-and-under Hendrix Park 1 team, coached by Rick Mitchell, played Hendrix Park 2, coached by Dustin Wright.

For Hendrix Park 1, Cameron Rivers, Jeremy Foster and Jacob Hilliard all scored two points each in a 6-0 win.

The second game of the night was a 10-and-under game with Hendrix Park 1, coached by Eddie Perry, playing Garden City 1.

For Hendrix Park 1, King Shatteen and Jordon Kirby each scored two points. Nathan Leggett scored four points. For Garden City 1, Tweet hit a three-pointer, Ti King hit two free throws and a basket for a total of four points. Marcus scored a free shot and four baskets for a total of nine points. Garden City 1 won the game 16-8.

The last game of the night was another 10-and-under game between Hendrix Park 2 and Port Wentworth. Hendrix Park 2 is coached by Buck Bragg.

For Hendrix Park 2 Willie Lavant scored a basket for two points. Markel Miller scored eight points. Jeffrey Young scored 10 points.

The final score was Hendrix Park 22, Port Wentworth 4.
