Bryan County fell 2-1 to Liberty County in the team’s season opener Monday despite a stellar game from pitcher Dashlon Brown, who threw 6 innings with 13 strikeouts. Brown also broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning with an RBI single.

The Panthers did not score until the final inning of the ballgame, when Matt Williams brought home a run with a base hit to tie the game at 1-1.

Patrick Underwood singled following the hit from Williams to bring another runner home for Liberty County.

The Panthers’ Aric Albertson struck out eight Redskins.

Baseball at the Beach

Richmond Hill High School plays Ringgold at 2:40 p.m. today at Armstrong State in a nonregion baseball game.

The Wildcats "Baseball at the Beach" tournament begins Friday with the Wildcats playing host to Metter at 6 p.m.

Saturday, Richmond Hill plays Ringgold at 9 a.m., then Rome and Ringgold face off at 11:30 a.m.

Richmond Hill takes on Rome at 2 p.m.
