The Richmond Hill High School Wildcats have started their 2025 campaign with an impressive 4-1 record through the first half of the year, winning four straight games to open the season. Senior tailback Amire Miller has had a lot to do with that success in his first season as a full time starter in the program.
“It means everything to me,” Miller said. “I've been in this community since a very young age, so my goal is to leave the program better than I found it.”
So far, he is doing a good job of just that as he is leading the team in rushing yards with 385 yards in five games, averaging 77 yards per contest. He also has rushed for 7 touchdowns, while averaging 6 yards per carry. His game play is not just about having great abilities, but is also the way he leads.
“I think I'm a lead by example kind of guy,” Miller said. “I may not always be that vocal leader, but I am one that speaks when it is needed.”
Last season, Miller was a bit limited with carries, as he sat behind a Division I running back in Joshua Troupe, who eventually committed to Kennesaw State University. Sitting behind Troupe allowed him to learn and eventually prepare him for his own starting role.
“It’s a great opportunity to now show what I am truly capable of and what I bring to the table when being part of a team,” Troupe said. “The end goal for myself and this team is always and always will be, a state championship.”
Prior to this season, Miller was able to pick up his first offer--which happened to also be a Division I offer--from Arkansas State University. Miller also holds an offer from Reinhardt University.
“Basically Arkansas State saw my film and came to see me at school,” Miller said. “They wanted to talk to me and kept in touch with me and eventually, I was offered by them. I went to a camp and it went amazing. I can't wait for the official visit there. I think I will fit right in the FBS/FCS level.”
Although he is only halfway done with his senior season at Richmond Hill, Miller has already begun to put some thought into what he wants to do after his football career ends one day.
“I want to major in business in some way,” Miller said. I hope that it will eventually lead me to being a part of some real estate company.”
Miller and the rest of the Wildcats hope to build upon their 4-1 start as they travel three hours to Tifton, Georgia, on Friday to take on the Blue Devils of Tift County in the first game of region action. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
