When it comes to Christians being involved in ministry I sometimes wonder if a ministry of prayer would be considered as important as other ministries such as music, preaching, teaching, or children’s ministries just to give examples. The truth I am getting at is not that these ministries are not important or necessary, but that prayer’s value is somehow lessened.
In the scriptures, Paul put value on prayer in 2 Corinthians 1:10-11 when he said, “On him (God) we have set our hope that he (God) will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many”.
There are people, because of a handicap, disability, or an inability to get out much, that can still have a very powerful and effective ministry by committing themselves to prayer. So many in these situations think they don’t matter anymore and they cannot contribute to ministry in the body of Christ. But it could be that their very prayers are making a huge difference in the lives of so many.
I know personally that I am depending on the prayers of others for me and the ministry God has called me to. I am so thankful for these prayers and there is a good possibility that during difficult times that I was going through that it was these prayers that helped me get through them.
