There is an expression found in I Kings 20:40 used by a prophet to rebuke a king for his failure to obey the Lord’s instructions concerning punishment for a wicked ruler. The words spoken by the prophet were, “as thy servant was busy here and there” he failed in his duty.

This speaks a great message into my spirit because all of us seem too busy for our spiritual good. Too many excuses are acceptable to our hearts for missing church services. The kids are playing ball, I have a tee time with friends on Sundays, we have a boat we must use because we have so much invested in it. On and on go the reasons for not committing our hearts to the Lord. Will our excuse simply be we were “busy here and there” when we give account to our Lord and Master? Believe me, that will not be acceptable to the Lord. He gave all for us and we must put Him first in our lives in order to serve Him.

If you are looking for something more in life than simply being overwhelmed with busyness, I suggest you consider this from the Bible. “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation” (Psalms 91:16). Looking for some satisfaction?

How about the promise of a long life, a satisfying one?

There’s a lot that goes into this.

Just read the entire Psalm (91) and think about the blessings that are promised to those who dwell “in the secret place of the most High” and thus “abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psa. 91:1). They are the most satisfied people in the world because of their relationship with God. Is your career crumbling, your marriage falling apart, your finances disappearing at an alarming rate?

Not very satisfied are you? You can’t hide an unhappy life with being busy here and there. It will continually torment you until you do something to change your direction. The only safe way out is to abide close to the Master and there you will find satisfaction.
