Learn to count your blessings

After hearing about a tragic accident that happened in our area Sunday that killed six people, it caused me to look more closely at my own life and count my blessings.

There are days, like today, where everything seems to go wrong, but when I look at my life it isn’t so bad.

I am not one of the family members who received a call that one of my loved ones had been killed in that accident. I went to the doctor for my annual check-up and received a great report.

I have a family to love and one that I believe loves me. I have plenty to eat in my house and a house to live in. I have plenty of clothes to wear and an automobile to drive.

More important than anything else is the fact that I have an assurance of where I will end up when the Lord chooses to allow me to pass from this world.

Even during those days where things are not going well for me, I have the promise of God’s grace to help me through it. The Apostle Paul reminds of this in 2 Corinthians 12:9, where the Lord told him, “My grace is sufficient for you.”

This was personal to him, but the good news is that it can be personal to us if we have a relationship with our heavenly Father, brought about through the forgiveness offered by Jesus Christ.
