Jesus offers peace

700 years before the birth of Jesus Christ in a manger in Bethlehem, the prophet Isaiah in 9:6 prophesied that He would be called the “Prince of Peace”.

In the story of the birth of Jesus recorded in Luke 14, the angels stated that mankind could experience peace with our maker when they proclaimed, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.

Jesus taught His disciples that the peace He was giving them was not the same as the peace the world offers.

Worldly peace is not sustainable because we live in a sinful world. The peace that comes through Jesus cannot be purchased, attained through knowledge or negotiation. Here is how Jesus said this truth in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; I do not give to you as the world gives”.

The peace Jesus brings will help us get through life’s toughest challenges. We can experience peace that doesn’t always make sense.

Paul reminds us of this truth in Philippians 4:7 when he says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

The big question is, do you have this peace that is ever present no matter what you are going through? The good news is that you can.
