God’s word is worthy of trust
pastor corner

There are a lot of voices in our world that claim to speak truth.

We have the extreme voices of professed psychics who claim they can tell you your future but they speak in general terms and are still many times wrong. Then there are the false religions who have as their leaders men who have died long ago.

And there are the cults who claim to speak for Jesus but add their own doctrines that have no evidence of reliability. Lastly, there have been, and still are today, individuals who give their opinion, and voice it as “truth.”

There is an old saying that says “the proof is in the pudding.” This means that you can only judge the quality of something after you have tried, used or experienced it.

God’s word – the Bible – has proved itself reliable throughout history. So, how do we know it is trustworthy?

First, because it claims to be so. Jesus proclaimed in John 17:17 that God’s word is truth. Paul, in writing to Timothy says that all scripture is from the very mouth of God.

Next, the prophesies in it have continually been fulfilled. Also, the advice it gives works. And we can depend on the promises that God gives us through it.

Maybe the greatest proof is that lives have been changed through trusting in it. The scriptures teach that God loves us so much, that he made a way through his Son Jesus, for us to receive forgiveness, peace and eternal life.

This is something that we can’t earn or can’t purchase but is a free gift to all who will receive it.

If you haven’t put God’s word to the test, do so and you won’t be disappointed. God doesn’t mind because he has nothing to hide.
