South Bryan students whose posters won at the county level were honored during Thursday’s Bryan County school board meeting held at Carver Elementary.

The students are Demori Betts, Richmond Hill Elementary;  Chloe Bennett, Carver Elementary; Halle Schuler, Richmond Hill Middle School and Sophia Singh, McAllister Elementary.

The contest is sponsored by the Georgia Association of Pupil Transportation, according to BC Transportation Director Allen Cox. The theme for 2018-19 is “My School Bus, the Safest Form of Transportation.”

The school board also recognized a number of other students at the meeting, including the Richmond Hill Middle School state champion cheerleading team; Richmond Hill High School cross country runners Jaylen Murray and Kayla Gholar, and RHHS volleyball player Mackenzie Petermann. Murray won the state Class AAAAAA title recently and signed this week to run cross country at Alabama; Gholar won the Region 2-AAAAAA title; Petermann led the school’s volleyball team to the Elite 8 in Class AAAAAA and was the coaches’ choice for the region player of the year.
