Waterways community debuts dog park amenity

Waterways, Richmond Hill's waterfront master planned community opened the gates April 28 to its brand new Waterwags Dog Park, an almost acre-sized, dedicated space for residents’ dogs to enjoy the outdoors and play with neighboring pups.

The dog park was much anticipated among residents, providing a fenced-in, wooded area for homeowners to allow pets off their leash and to roam around with no worry of running down the street. The park, across the street from a neighborhood pool house and amenity center, is equipped with benches and water fountains to ensure dogs are hydrated, and owners and dog walkers can take a seat and relax.

To celebrate the opening, Waterways invited residents with pet-focused companies to set up shop in the park, including Paws in Motion (a dog walking company) and The Pet Spa (a local grooming spa), while Maria G. Huntoon Canine Consulting Services was also there to provide training sessions for owners and their pups.

Savannah-based One Love Animal Rescue and Georgia Rescue, Rehabilitation & Relocation (G-R-R-R) both brought staff and furry friends, offering adoptions on-site and a raffle was organized to raise funds for the organizations. Waterways invited all of its residents to check out the park, bring pets and spend a spring Sunday afternoon outside. Many residents also brought donations for the animal rescues, and over 20 bags of pet food were collected.
