Troop 400 celebrates 30 years of service
troop 400 peach cobbler
BSA Troup 400 will be selling peach cobbler this week through Saturday, November 8.

Boy Scout Troop 400 is marking 30 years of Scouting in Richmond Hill sponsored by the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church. Since 1995, the troop has helped local youth develop leadership skills, outdoor experience, and a commitment to community service.

Guided by current Scoutmaster Jason Whittaker, the troop has over 40 active Scouts ranging in age from 11-17 and has produced 108 Eagle Scouts, the highest rank in Scouting.

Troop 400 is known for its community service projects around Richmond Hill and South Bryan County including most recently

: • A new flagpole and seating area at DeVaul Henderson Park

• A new bridge for the disc golf course at Francis Meeks Elementary School • A new nature trail at Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church

• New fencing at Zion Baptist Church Prayer House The troop is also famous for its Dutch oven peach cobbler fundraiser. This year would have been the 25th year of selling cobblers at the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival, but with the festival canceled, the Scouts are continuing the tradition by offering their famous cobblers directly to the community. The fundraiser helps to support the Scouts and Troop 400 in carrying out its year-round Scouting program.

“Our Peach Cobbler has become something people look forward to every year,” said Scoutmaster Jason Whittaker. “It’s unfortunate that we don’t have the Seafood Festival this year but, even without the festival, our Scouts and families are working hard to make sure everyone can still enjoy a taste of Troop 400’s peach cobbler. We will cook the whole cobblers on November 7th and 8th, and they will be available for pickup at Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church.”

Please consider ordering a cobbler to support Troop 400. They will be available through November 8th while supplies last. For more information or to place an order, visit https://bsa-troop-400.square.site/.
