Qualifying ends today for the Richmond Hill city council seat left vacant by the Dec. 19 death of councilman Johnny Murphy, the city’s mayor pro tem, but there’s already a crowded slate. Six candidates have announced so far. Rick Fitzer, Ron Murphy, Wayne Jackson and John Ring qualified

Monday, and Darryl Lawrence and David London qualified on Tuesday, according to City Clerk Dawnne Greene.

Qualifying ends at 4:30 p.m. The cost to run is $150.

The special election to fill Murphy’s seat is March 19, and those who wish to vote in the election must be registered by 5 p.m. Feb. 19.

If there’s a runoff, that will be April 16.
