Lisa Ring will publicly announce her run against Buddy Carter for the U.S. House of Representatives First District seat at a campaign kick-off rally and oyster roast, March 27.

Ring ran against Carter in the 2018 election. She is a Richmond Hill resident, mother of four, military spouse and former corrections officer who advocates for Medicare for all, jobs that pay a living wage, racial justice, and economic equality.

“Now is the time to stand up for the issues that impact our daily lives," Ring said. "We should not have to worry about whether we can afford healthcare or not, or that we work full time but can’t pay our bills, that there is no affordable daycare options for our children. We should be living up to our promises and supporting our veterans when they come home from war, and we need to protect our beautiful coastal waters from offshore drilling.”

Ring initially announced her run for Congress in a post on her website and social media pages, Jan. 1, but will share her thoughts in person at the upcoming event, 6:30-8 pm, at Love’s Seafood and Steaks, 6817 Chief of Love Rd, Savannah.

The cost is a suggested campaign contribution of $27 and can be made at the event or online at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/standwithlisa
