Richmond Hill Girl Scouts earn Gold Award for service projects
Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia (GSHG) honored 19 girls, including Richmond Hill’s Mercy Mondt and Katherine Stigall, earning the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award at the first ever virtual Highest Award Ceremony on Sunday, May 5.

Younger Girl Scouts who have earned the Silver or Bronze Award and volunteers who have earned council level awards were also honored during the ceremony.

The Gold Award Girl Scouts from the Savannah area are as follows:

Mercy Mondt, Richmond Hill - Troop #30022; Grow for Gold: Eleos Food Pantry Vegetable Garden

Mercy addressed the issue of hunger in her community and access to fresh foods.

She built and planted a vegetable garden at a local food pantry to provide patrons with fresh food in season.

Katherine Stigall, Richmond Hill - Troop #30022; Dress to Feel Your Best

Katherine conducted a large clothing drive and set up a free closet for those suffering from a terminal illness and their close family members.

The clients can “shop” the closet, allowing them to have access to a lovely wardrobe in a difficult time.
