Richmond Hill church to hold drop-off food drive

Coastal Community Christian Church will dedicate a new larger “Blessing Box” on Saturday, December 19, at noon. Afterward, the church will hold a drive-through drop-off food drive until 3 p.m.

The church debuted its Blessing Box in 2018. Located in the church parking lot at 10770 Ford Avenue in Richmond Hill, the Blessing Box is available 24/7 to anyone who needs non-perishable foods.

“Since the pandemic started, we’ve seen an increase in the number of people using our Blessing Box,” said Noel Gonzalez, who keeps the box stocked with items donated by church members and others. A group of teens from Coastal Community Christian Church recently built and installed a larger box that will be dedicated on Saturday.

“A bigger Blessing Box means we will need more donations to feed our neighbors,” Gonzalez said. She organized the food drive to allow community members to drive in and drop off items. Some of the food items will be used to create boxes that will be delivered to families in need for Christmas.
