The 200 Club of the Coastal Empire, a nonprofit that provides immediate financial assistance to families of first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty, is putting on its sixth annual Shields for Fallen Heroes campaign.

Participants can purchase $1 or $5 shields through Oct. 23 at several locations in the region. Funds raised will be donated to families in 18 Georgia counties, including Bryan, Chatham, Bulloch, Effingham, Evans and Liberty.

Locally, shields can be purchased at Plantation Lumber and Hardware, 10829 Ford Ave. in Richmond Hill and Enmark, 830 US Highway 80 in Pooler.
