The following are on file at the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department:

Battery
Dec. 18 –
A Pembroke woman reported around 3:15 p.m. that a man jumped her, beat her and threatened her with a knife on Charles Shuman Road. The woman told police her husband owed the attacker money. She said she was able to get away from the attacker and run to her house to call police.
Dec. 23 – A Pembroke man reported around 6:15 p.m. that two men attacked him, causing his face to bleed, on Hwy. 204 and Black Creek Church Road in Ellabell. The man told deputies his attackers approached him about an incident that happened in Los Angeles.
Theft by taking:
Dec. 17 – A Richmond Hill man reported around 1:50 p.m. that someone had taken $6,350 worth of automotive equipment from his property on Hwy. 17.
Dec. 17 – A Richmond Hill man reported around 2:30 p.m. that someone had taken eight tractor trailer tires and rims, worth $5,600, from his property on Dixie Road.
Dec. 25 – An Ellabell man was arrested around 2:05 a.m. on Cross Swamp Road after he admitted to stealing his brother-in-law’s car, worth $2,200, the day before and wrecking it in the woods.

Entering an automobile
Dec. 21 –
A Richmond Hill woman reported around 8:40 a.m. that someone had taken a Coach tote bag containing school books, worth a total of $300, from her car parked at a gas station on Hwy. 144 in Richmond Hill. The woman left her car in the parking lot the previous night and found the driver’s side window shattered when she returned that morning.

Drug violations
Dec. 21 –
An Ellabell man was arrested around 1:05 a.m. at his home on Elm Drive and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects. The deputies went to the home around 11:45 p.m. to execute a court-ordered mental person pickup. Deputies knocked on the door when they arrived and the man looked at them through a glass frame on the front door, but did not let them in. Deputies continued to knock for an hour and 15 minutes until a woman answered the door wearing only a towel. The woman told deputies she didn’t answer the door because she was in the shower and that the man had left the residence. However, deputies soon found the man hiding in another room. Deputies found cocaine, marijuana and a silver chamber pipe on the man before transporting him to a mental health hospital. The woman was also arrested for obstruction of law enforcement.    

DUI
Dec. 18 –
A Garden City man was arrested around 1 a.m. on Hwy. 17 and Clarktown Road in Richmond Hill after deputies observed the car he was driving swerve into a ditch. The man agreed to a breath test but would not give a sufficient sample.

Driving while license suspended
Dec. 23 –
A Fort Stewart man was arrested around 7 p.m. on Hwy. 17 near I-95, and charged with driving while his license was suspended or revoked, no insurance on a motor vehicle, open container of alcohol while operating a vehicle and driving on a suspended registration. The man was pulled over after police noticed his car had suspended registration and no valid insurance. Police saw an open bottle of Bud Light in the backseat of the car and later found that the driver has a suspended driver’s license from Ohio.
