JESUP — The Georgia Department of Transportation is restricting construction-related lane closures through 5 a.m. July 9.
“We anticipate heavy traffic over the Independence Day holiday week, and we would like to make it a little easier for them to arrive at their destination in a safe and timely matter,” said Karon Ivery, Georgia DOT Jesup District engineer.
“Our No. 1 goal is to provide motorists with a safe transportation system. Emergency maintenance work in the case of traffic accidents and other unpredictable types of transportation incidents could still cause lane closures and/or delays.”
The department reminds travelers to exercise caution as heavy holiday traffic is expected.
Crews may still be working close to highways, and safety concerns may require some long-term lane closures remain in place.
