Crime scene tape

A Pembroke man is in Bryan County Jail charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed his wife Monday night at a Cypress Bay Loop address.

The man, Thomas Exley, 41 of Cypress Bay Loop Road, is charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of crime for the fatal shooting Kecia Latoya Exley, according to Bryan County Sheriff Mark Crowe.

A Bryan County Sheriff ’s Office report said deputies first responded to the address around 8:30 p.m. Monday night due to reports a woman had been shot.

Crowe said Exley called 911 to say he shot his wife, then left the scene. He later turned himself into the Chatham County Sheriff ’s Office.

“We sent our investigators out to pick him up and brought him back to jail, which is where he is now,” Crowe said Tuesday afternoon.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the case, the sheriff said.
