Officials tour new school
RHES-awning

Richmond Hill Elementary Principal Walt Barnes, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sallie Brewer, a few board members and others recently toured the new elementary school under construction.

The new building will house grades 4 and 5 and the administration with three new classroom wings, a large, open media center, 3,500 sq. ft. cafeteria, art room, multipurpose room with a stage, and more. It’s expected to be ready this fall when school starts back.

According to Barnes, the pinwheel style building by Buckley and Associates was well thought out and well designed. All wings of the school can be seen from a central hub.

"It’s open and spacious with a lot of ambient light. It will have a good flow of traffic with plenty of room for growth." Barnes said.

The school is expected to house approximately 400 students and Brewer said she was impressed by the design. "It’s really going to be beautiful and will give Mr. Barnes some much needed room." She said.
