New scoreboard, lots of donations for BoE

Bryan County’s Board of Education approved a new LED scoreboard and accepted a host of donations during its Sept. 24 meeting in Richmond Hill.

The scoreboard, to be placed at the home field for Bryan County High School’s softball team and the Bryan County Middle School baseball team, can’t cost more than $20,948, according to the vote.

Also at the meeting, the school board approved donations ranging in size from $50 to more than $19,000 for everything from classroom supplies to booster clubs to technology purchases at various schools.

All told, the donations added up to nearly $43,000, which drew thanks from school board members.

COVID-19 update: 104 students were quarantined as a result of “school based close contact” and six were reported positive from Sept. 21-25, the district reported Monday.
