An Ellabell man was behind bars Tuesday after he allegedly robbed a home and then set it on fire over the weekend.

According to an official with the Bryan County Jail, Danny Lee Pfister, 22, was arrested and booked at the jail on Sunday. He had his first appearance before a judge on Monday but no bond was set, the jail official said.

Bryan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 251 Pine Park Drive in Ellabell just before midnight Saturday after receiving a call about a house fire.

According to the incident report a deputy arrived just before firefighters and saw a double-wide trailer with flames coming from the windows of one end of the home.

The deputy reported he was approached by three people who reported seeing a white male running from the scene. One of the witnesses said he chased the man for two blocks but eventually lost sight of him.

All three witnesses reportedly identified the man as Pfister.

While on the scene a deputy found a red five-gallon plastic gas can on the front porch of the residence. The report says the can was taken from the scene as evidence and for possibly obtaining finger prints.

A report obtained from the Bryan County Jail shows Pfister has a criminal record, with charges dating back to early 2002 and ranging from riot in a penal institution to criminal trespass and theft.

A call to the office of the Georgia Fire Marshall seeking details into the fire was not returned Tuesday afternoon.
