Sgt. 1st Class Patrick Gray leads the Fort Stewart 3rd Infantry Division Band on Wednesday during its patriotic performance at First Baptist Church in Pembroke.

The members of the Fort Stewart 3rd Infantry Division Band got a standing ovation from more than 200 North Bryan residents on last week during a Patriotic Concert and Picnic at First Baptist Church in Pembroke.

Sgt. 1st Class Patrick Gray led the band played as they played tunes from different eras, including songs like “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood and “Jump, Jive and Wail” by Louis Prima. They also entertained the crowd with standard marches like the “Washington Post March,” “National Emblem March” and the “Footlifter.”

Though a pop-up thunderstorm eventually forced the crowd and the band inside the church, it didn’t seem to hinder the performance or the spirit of attendees.

“It was fantastic,” Navy veteran Mike Macchio said. “My son-in-law is in the band and we try to see them everywhere we can when they’re close. They do a good job.”
