Fort McAllister State Historic Park will host “Your State Parks Day,” a volunteer event, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the park’s visitors center at 3894 Fort McAllister Road in Richmond Hill.

For the event, volunteers help spruce up the park. This year, volunteers will plant a pollinator’s garden and working on Redbird Creek Trail. Because of the recent removal of several acres of trees caused by the pine-borer beetle infestation, there is a need to reroute a section of the trail.

Volunteers can assist with removal of tree debris and marking the new trail section or help plant the new garden.

Participants should bring work gloves and insect spray. The park will provide lunch, water and a T-shirt for all volunteers.
