Bryan County Commissioners Tuesday approved a 2015 budget of $19.9 million with little discussion Tuesday night at the board's meeting at the Administration Building in South Bryan.

They later spent more than half an hour discussing the pros and cons of rezoning a 2.29 acre lot in Ellabell at the property owner's request before approving the measure by a split 3-2 vote.

The approval came despite a recommendation from Planning and Zoning to disapprove the rezoning and objection from a nearby neighbor.

The rezoning, commissioner Wade Price said, was necessary to fix a mistake made by commissioners two years ago when they denied the owners request to build a duplex on the lot.
