BoE extends superintendent's contract, approves budget
bryan county schools

The Bryan County Board of Education voted Thursday to extend superintendent Dr. Paul Brooksher's contract another two years. The BoE also voted 5-2 to approve a 2015 budget of approximately $55.4 million.

Bryan County BoE Chairman Eddie Warren and District 1 member Paine Bacon voted against the measure due to concerns over increased spending on central office personnel.

Brooksher, who is in his third year as superintendent for Bryan County Schools, will make approximately $150,000 in base salary.

The vote took place during the BoE's regular monthly meeting, which was held this month at Carver Elementary in Richmond Hill.

Brooksher also announced at Thursday's meeting that the system's enrollment for 2014-2015 was a record 8,535 students.
