A motorcycle wreck near the Strathy Hall neighborhood on Wednesday required an airlift evacuation.

A Richmond Hill man was airlifted to Memorial Hospital after being ejected from his motorcycle after he reportedly lost control while turning into Strathy Hall, on Steele Wood Drive, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Officers say Gary Quinney, 56, suffered some internal and external injuries during the accident. He is reportedly expected to make a full recovery.

A similar accident at the intersection of Steele Wood and Hwy. 144 resulted in a fatality back in 2000 and has spurred several local residents to nickname the turn "dead man’s curve."

Bryan County Sheriff's Department Captain Mike Maxwell said the intersection has been the setting for many fender benders, but the 2000 fatality and Wednesday’s motorcycle wreck are the only two major accidents in recent history.
