Hurricane Helene: Bryan County Schools closed Friday, September 27th
A release was sent to families Thursday afternoon.
Bryan County Schools

Bryan County Schools has announced in a press release Thursday that all schools and offices will be closed on Friday, September 27th due to weather conditions resulting from Hurricane Helene.

The release, in full:

“Bryan County Schools, in close coordination with our emergency services partners, have been actively monitoring Hurricane Helene. Based on the most recent projections, we anticipate our area experiencing tropical storm force winds tonight and possibly into early tomorrow morning. The projected wind speeds have actually increased since our debriefing yesterday. As a result of this new information and out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to close all schools and offices on Friday, September 27, 2024. While the weather may clear by Friday morning, we will not have sufficient time to thoroughly assess road conditions and the safety of our school buildings before scheduled bus pick-ups.

We understand that weather predictions can change, and the path of the storm and intensity may shift. However, the safety of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority, and we believe closing schools is the most responsible decision at this time.”
