Victim ID'd as Mike Bragg, according to GBI

A homicide was reported in the Kilkenny area of Bryan County on Friday night, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the matter.

 GBI Special Agent in Charge Cathy Sapp said the victim has been identified as Mike Bragg, and his death reportedly was the result of an altercation at a home.

 Sapp would not provide additional details until an autopsy has been conducted. One should be performed early next week at the GBI crime lab in Savannah.

 The Bryan County News will provide more information on this case as it becomes available.

Bryan County Commissioners on Tuesday night deferred a decision on whether to rezone some 3.8 acres near the historic Burnt Church Cemetery to allow a Parker’s Kitchen convenience store. The vote to defer the decision for 30 days to look into concerns raised by opponents to the project came after several residents – including parents of children buried in the 195-year-old cemetery – urged commissioners to deny the rezoning.
