The Richmond Hill Garden Club recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Emily Dobson. The award was presented May 16 during Honors Night at RHHS.

Emily plans to attend the University of Georgia this fall where she plans to major in Environmental Science. She was in the Field Studies Program at her school and became a certified quality tester for the Georgia DNR. After training she was given her own site to test water quality at J. F. Gregory Park. She is a member of her school’s Environmental Club where she has been elected president every year since her sophomore year. Emily plans to continue her studies of the environment and focus on ways she can improve it.

The garden club awards a $1,000 scholarship to a local high school senior who plans to major in a field related to environmental concerns, plants and or gardening. Club members are honored to be able to present this award annually.
