Resident joins bank as VP for businesses

SAVANNAH— United Community Bank-Savannah has announced that James Magness has joined the bank as vice president of business services and will be located at United’s White Bluff office.
Magness, a resident of Richmond Hill, has more than 15 years in the financial services industry, including eight years with AIG/American General and seven years with Wachovia/Wells Fargo, holding several positions, including sales manager, senior financial specialist and most recently regional private banker.
“Savannah is a growing, thriving city, and United Community Bank is growing with it by providing exceptional customer service along with a full complement of banking services,” said Gene Gibson, CEO of United Community Bank-Savannah.
“The addition of a high-caliber, experienced banker like James will be a huge asset – not only for our bank but for our current and potential business customers in the greater Savannah area.”
Magness is active in the Savannah and Richmond Hill-Bryan County chambers of commerce and the local United Way.
“I am very excited and look forward to putting my expertise to work at United Community Bank,” he said. “I am familiar with and have been active in our local business community. I understand the unique needs of our local businesses and United is ready to provide the personalized services that help these businesses prosper and grow.
“I plan to come out to meet and work with business owners. In the meantime, I invite them to stop and see me at United Community Bank’s White Bluff office.”
Magness attended the University of Georgia. He also is an American College Licensed Underwriting Training Council Fellow and member of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
He was ranked the No. 1 financial specialist at Wachovia in 2007. He currently holds Life and Health and Series 7 and 63 licenses.
