Durand Standard, CenturyLink Inc.’s vice president and general manager for the company’s Georgia and South Carolina operations, recently was named the 2012-2013 president of the Georgia Telecommunications Association.

“Durand has provided key leadership to a number of GTA committees and initiatives,” GTA Executive Vice President John Silk said. “His peers appreciate the experience and insight Durand, vice president of one of our largest member companies, will bring to the entire state’s association.”

Standard has worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 25 years. He also serves on the Liberty County Consolidated Planning Commission, First Presbyterian Christian Academy school board and Friends of Liberty and Southeast Georgia board.

GTA’s membership includes 30 independent telephone companies that serve more than half of Georgia. The association provides a vehicle through which member interests can be represented in legislative, regulatory and public areas.

CenturyLink’s Georgia service area includes Liberty and parts of Long and Bryan counties.
