Ireland and the entire United Kingdom have experienced record cold temperatures this week, as the Beast from the East" storm a cold weather pattern that traveled from Siberia to the U.K. has frozen the region.
Officials say the ongoing storm has already led to 55 deaths across Europe, leaving close to 24,000 homes and businesses without power, BBC News reported.
Ireland's red alert led to a shutdown of public transport, and school and workplace closures, as well as flight cancellations and delays, according to The Irish Mirror.
The Dublin Airport shared a video of what a red alert looks like on Twitter.
The video, which has more than 248,000 views, shows heavy winds blowing snow across the entire airport.
All flights from Dublin have been suspended, according to the airport, which hopes it can resume flights on Saturday.
