Supper Club Forming at Hunter
Sign up now for the Hunter Supper Club, and start looking forward to good food and fun once a month.
The club's first outing, by trolley, will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 11 to Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House, even more popular now after a visit from President Obama. After a true Southern feast, the group will travel the dark and mysterious streets of Savannah, returning to Hunter about 10 p.m.
Every month, the club will visit a different restaurant and have a different program. David Pinckney of Leisure Travel will be the host.
The cost is $45 per person, which includes the dinner and trolley fare. The trip will be limited to 36 people, so sign up soon. Civilian employees, retirees and Active Duty Soldiers are invited.

Wild Hog Competition sign-up
Registration for the 2011 Wild Hog Competition continues through Dec. 31.
A civilian and an active duty winner will each receive a large hog head mount valued at $500.
Register at the Fort Stewart Pass & Permit Office. All participants must be a valid permit holder. There is a $5 entry fee.
Contest will be judged based on the number of hogs harvested during unmanaged hunts on Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. All hogs must be submitted at the Pass & Permit office or at the Fish and Wildlife office on Fort Stewart.

German favorites on Thunder Run menu
Are you hungry for some German favorites? They're on the menu Oct. 12 at Club Stewart's Thunder Run restaurant as part of the Internationally Inspired Cuisine Night.
German favorites recently were added in place of Asian foods. Other foods on the rotating menu are American, Italian and Latin favorites.
Service is every Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Thunder Run. The cost is $9.95 per adult and half-price for children ages 5-10. There is no charge for children 4 and under.

Hunter GC Golf Scramble
The Hunter Garrison Commander's 4-person Golf Scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Oct. 14 at Hunter Golf Club. The event will accept the first 25 four-person teams. Register your team by Oct. 12.

Managed Deer Hunts
Registration will close at 5 p.m. Oct. 17 for the managed hunt for scheduled Oct. 29 in the Delta Small Impact Range.
Soldiers stationed at Fort Stewart and retirees may apply. The total number of slots available for each hunt is 50, with 10 per cent being offered to retirees.
A lottery on Oct. 18 will choose the 50 hunters.
Applications will be taken at Pass & Permit Offices on Fort Stewart and Hunter.
Individuals will have the opportunity to take part in both a morning and afternoon hunt, with lunch provided during the break. Game check and cleaning station will be provided by DPW, Fish and Wildlife Branch. A $10 fee per hunter will be charged and is payable upon selection. Assistance also is provided by DES Game Wardens Branch.
Another managed deer hunt will be held Dec. 10, with a registration deadline of 5 p.m. Nov 28. The lottery type drawing for this hunt will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 29.

Big Buck Contest Sign-up Under Way
Register now for a chance to win cash for the largest buck harvested on Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield. Registration continues until Oct. 21.
Registration fees are $30 for Active Duty, Retired and Family Members, and $40 for civilians.
All deer harvested must be turned in to the Fish & Wildlife Branch during operating hours for scoring.

Company-level Skeet Competition
Starting later this month, soldiers will get a chance to test their skeet-shooting skills against other soldiers in a company-level competition that could put them on a path to win the Commanding General's Trophy.
Registration continues through Oct. 18.
The trophy is a unit level competition system for honoring the best unit in a variety of sports, such as flag football, basketball, soccer, skeet shooting and others. The winner is determined by an accumulated points system.
The trophy, which has not been awarded during the past couple of years due to the 3rd ID's multiple deployments, will be presented in October or November of next year.
Skeet-shooting will be held at 6 p.m. one evening a week, on Mondays or Wednesdays, starting Oct. 24 at the Hunter and Stewart skeet ranges. League play will close on Nov. 30. This will be followed by a round-robin tournament in which each company will shoot against the others.
Each company may have four shooters with three scores counting. Each shooter will shoot 50 rounds per match. The cost is $25 per person per match.

The Rock Power Lifting and Bench Press Competition
Military ID cardholders 16 and older are invited to compete in The Rock Power Lifting and Bench Press Competition starting at 10 a.m. Oct. 22 at Newman Fitness Center.
In the bench press competition, contestants will be placed into one of 12 weight classes and must complete a successful attempt in the bench press to qualify for an award. Each competitor will attempt three lifts.
In the power lifting competition, each competitor must complete a successful attempt in all three lifts (bench press, squat and dead lift) to qualify for an award. Each competitor will be given three lifts per event, for a total of nine lifts. To determine the final place of the competitor, the top three lifts will be combined for a total weight lifted. Awards will be presented to the top lifters using the Schwartz-Malone Power Lifting Formula.
Early registration, through Oct. 18, costs $10. The late registration fee is $15 and will be accepted until the day of the event. Register at Newman Fitness Center.
Weigh-in will begin at 8 a.m. Oct. 22.

CYSS/Youth Sponsorship Tybee Island Beach Ecology Walk
Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield youth will take a Tybee Island Beach Ecology Walk on a Child, Youth and School Services Youth Sponsorship trip scheduled for Oct. 22.
The free trip is open to CYSS-registered youth in grades 4-12.
Marine scientist Dr. Joe Richardson will lead the walk. Youth will learn about fish or animals that live near or in the ocean, comb the beach for fossils and shark teeth (youth on last year's trip discovered two shark teeth), and learn how to measure seawater salinity and ocean tides.
The group will depart from Fort Stewart at 8 a.m. and from Hunter at 9 a.m.
Registration closes Oct. 20. Registration is available online or at either the Stewart or Hunter Parent Central Services offices.
