Rotary dinner to have Elvis theme

The evening of Feb. 11 is sure to be a highlight of the year’s social calendar as the King of Rock and Roll will perform a “Viva Las Vegas” show during the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill’s annual fundraiser dinner at the Richmond Hill City Center.
Performing live in his highly acclaimed tribute act, Randy “Elvis” Walker has the voice, look, charisma, moves and outfits of Elvis Presley.
“Our annual events are becoming famous for a fantastic Valentine’s weekend experience,” Larry Barker, joint event organizer and Rotary Club Board member said.
In addition to the hour-long show, featuring many of Elvis’ hits, there will be a stand-up comic, celebrity costume and dance contests plus a wedding chapel for couples renewing their vows to “get hitched” again or simply pose for themed photos at $10 per couple.
All funds raised at the event will benefit local and international charities supported by the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill.
“In 2011, our ‘Grease’ prom raised over $18,000 dollars for charity, and we hope to increase this in 2012 as funds raised will go to help our community, including senior citizens programs, educational sponsorships, such as the J.D. Gardner Scholarship, good causes like the Matthew Freeman Foundation and international initiatives, such as Alzheimer’s research and providing clean and safe water to Haiti,” said Ray Pittman, joint event organizer and Rotary Club Board member.
A buffet dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and a cash bar will be available.  Silent and live auctions will also take place throughout the evening.
Tickets are $50 per person, which includes dinner, entertainment and dancing. Sponsorship packages are also available and include logos and accreditation of businesses and individuals sponsoring the ”Viva Las Vegas” event on promotional materials. Sponsorship levels available include: The King, eight tickets for $1,000; Jailhouse Rock, four tickets for $500; and Love Me Tender, two tickets for $250.
