SPRINGFIELD – The fifth Effingham Oktoberfest will be held Friday and Saturday behind Rincon Chevrolet, 5480 Highway 21 S. in Rincon.
The children’s activity area will have inflatables, bungee jumps, games, a petting zoo, a rock wall, pony rides, a hay area, and a water walk where kids get inside a giant clear ball on a shallow pool of water. Kids’ activities are free from noon-3 p.m. Friday.
A kickoff ceremony is at 6 p.m. Friday. The best-whiskers contest will follow. Artists and craftspeople will be on-site as well. Music for the Friday and Saturday will include slots for local musicians, entries for the Friday evening Battle of the Bands. The winner will receive $500 and the opening-act slot Saturday night.
