DARIEN — Come celebrate fall at the Darien Fall Fest from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6. Fall Fest activities are in historic downtown Darien, at nearby Ashantilly Center and at Fort King George Historic Site. Food and fun abound at this seasonal-themed event, which highlights coastal Georgia’s Scottish heritage, the cultural bounty and maritime legacy.
Attendees can browse Darien’s Broad Street for arts and crafts, an art show and antiques. Savor delicious regional cuisine and mouthwatering desserts in the food court. The festival opens with a Doggy Day Parade at 10 am. During the day, see live performances by local entertainers. The all-day Classic Car Exhibit will be set up on the lawn of the Trailhead Center on First Street, while hourly children’s activities are planned in the Waterfront Park and under the Darien River Bridge.
Chefs will vie for bragging rights for best crab stew at the “Crab in a Crock” contest on the waterfront at noon.
There also will be scenic marsh tours by pirate boat, guided by Captain Phillip. Tours depart hourly from Skipper’s Screven Street dock beginning at 2 p.m.
