The Stewart/Hunter Spring Carnival, featuring rides, games, concessions and a beer garden, opens Thursday on Walker Field and continues through Sunday.

The public is welcome. Pets, coolers, outside food and glass bottles are prohibited. 

Hours are: 5-10 p.m. Thursday, 5-midnight Friday, noon-midnight Saturday and 1-10 p.m. Sunday.

Rides cost 3 or 4 tickets per ride, and tickets cost $1 each or $10 for 12, $20 for 24 and $40 for 50. Arm bands that get you unlimited rides for the night cost $25 per person.

Cosmic Bingo

Celebrate your tax refund with Stewart/Hunter Cosmic Bingo at 10 p.m. Friday with specials, drawings, giveaways, black lights and fluorescent paper. There will be 10 $100 games, one Fluorescent Dabo, free snacks and specialty drinks. Stewart Bingo is adjacent to Club Stewart and Hunter Bingo is adjacent to Hunter Club. Color run

Show your support for Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month at the Extreme Color Run/Walk Glitter Edition 5K starting at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Holbrook Pond Recreation Area.

Register online using WebTrac or visit Stewart-Hunter Leisure Travel offices. Cost is $30 through Thursday and $40 Friday and the day of the run.

The run is open to the public. Strollers and school-aged children's bicycles are welcome, but not pets. For more information, call 912-767-6212.

 

Meet a character

Once upon a time there were Minions, the Chipmunks, Buzz, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Dora T. Explorer, Snow White, Cinderella, Spiderman and Capt. America traveling to Hunter.

Children will have a chance to meet some of their favorite characters from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at a Character Meet and Greet at Tominac Fitness Center. Bring your cameras.

There is a $1 charge for everyone entering the gym.

Long range shoot

Soldiers, retirees, Army civilians and guests can sight in large caliber weapons (registered at Fort Stewart) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Red Cloud Echo Range Complex. Rifles of any caliber, but no pistols or shotguns. Targets at 100-500 meters (paper) and 750-1,000 meters (steel). Cost is $15 per two-hour block/person. Bring correct cash amount to range. Golf scramble

Gift cards – from stores such as Starbucks, Panera, iTunes, Cold Stone and Carrabba’s – might be one of the prizes you take home from the Commander’s Golf Scramble at Taylors Creek Golf Course on April 22. Toddler Earth Day

Bridal show

Planning a wedding? Want to learn about trends? The Bridal Show at Club Stewart from 1-4 p.m. April 24 is a one-stop shop to meet with coordinators, travel agents, cake decorators, photographers and other professionals. The show includes raffles, door prizes and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Open to the public. Pre-register and buy tickets at $7 each at the club. Admission is $10 at the door. Course championship

Hunter Golf Course championship starts at 7:30 a.m. April 30-May 1 and is open to all golfers. It is a 36-hole stroke play with flights after the first round. Flight determined by size of field. Get Golf Ready  

PGA professional John Fesperman will introduce parent/child teams to the swing, course and game at a Get Golf Ready session from 1-2 p.m. April 30 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Racquetball tournament

A racquetball tournament will start at 6 p.m. May 5-7 at Newman and Johnson fitness centers. Register by April 21. This is a double elimination tournament. Compete in women's or men's singles (novice, intermediate, advanced). Open to military ID cardholders (17 and older). First and second place medals awarded in all divisions. Float trip

Enjoy a Leisure Travel canoe/kayak float trip starting at 8 a.m. May 14 on a Georgia waterway.

The cost is just $20 per person and includes transportation. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Paddlers must be at least 12. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch.

River tubing

Register by June 6 for the Summer Ichetuckneee River (Florida) Tubing trip on June 11. The cost is $30 per person, which includes entry fees, transportation and tube rental fee. Sign up on WebTrac, the Holbrook Equipment Rental Facility or the Stewart/Hunter Leisure Travel offices.
