Canoe excursions set

Fort King George Historic Site will host a canoe trip on the Altamaha River starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the site’s museum.

Guides will take visitors through the Barrington Lake region and provide natural and historical interpretation of the region. Guests will experience century-old Tupelo swamps, ancient sand dunes with high bluffs and swimming opportunities.

Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring snacks, sunscreen and bug spray.

The trip will last about four hours.
