Blues in Hinesville Saturday

EG Kight, who has been called The Georgia Songbird, will headline the 13th annual Blues, Brews & BBQ from 1 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday in downtown Hinesville.

The Hinesville Area Arts Council festival will have a BBQ contest, BBQ sales, other food vendors, sidewalk chalk art and activities for children, a beer garden and lots of music. It is free, though some activities and the food cost.

Kight’s specialty is the blues. She produces her music with Paul Hornsby in Macon.

The opening act Saturdday will be Wild Shriners from St. Augustine. Music, however, begins at 1 p.m. and will feature area artists all afternoon.

Afternoon activities range from a sidewalk chalk art contest to a yoga class that will earn the first 15 adults to sign up free beer for the evening.

Formal judging of the contest betwen area restaurants and backyard chefs also takes place during the afternoon.

The people’s choice contest for the barbecue starts at 4 p.m. Sales start at 5.

The festival is behind shops along Main Street between Court and of MLK Jr Drive.

This year’s sponsors include the Liberty County Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority, Veterans United Home Loans and Fort Stewart MWR.
